Be a part of the work of missions at Third by joining one of our teams. Our teams are always open and ready for you to jump in.
METRO RICHMOND TEAM
This team focuses on engaging, educating and discipling our community in the work of mercy and justice in our metro region, particularly around the areas of housing, education, vocational development, and racial justice and reconciliation.
GLOBAL MISSIONS TEAM
This team is dedicated to supporting Third’s many cross-cultural missionaries, and developing educational and direct engagement opportunities for our congregation to participate in God’s mission to the nations.
Global and local budget teams
We have two teams that establish the budget for the upcoming year for each area (local and global), review one-time gift requests, and assess new partners. The teams meet periodically throughout the year.

A multi-ethnic, economically diverse community in the East End of Richmond which seeks God’s joy and justice for their neighborhood out of love for Christ.
Working in the United States to mentor medical students, engage local Muslim communities, and teach English online.
Operating community-based learning centers to develop leaders by making long-term investments in children from at-risk communities.
A branch of Young Life which reaches out with the gospel and Christ’s love to pregnant and parenting teen moms and their children.
Building relationships with high school students all over the Richmond metro area to introduce them to Jesus Christ and help them grow in following him.
Strengthening the inner city of Richmond through encouraging financial stability, assisting people in home ownership and affordable rental property.
Surrounding and supporting leaders in the urban community with compassion, prayer, and action to defeat physical and spiritual poverty.
Offering coaching, training, and practical tools to build and sustain strong and fulfilling relationships, marriages, families, and communities.
Providing professional, respectful, and compassionate care to women and men unprepared for pregnancy by offering resources and practical assistance for life-affirming choices.
Building connections between business professionals and matters of faith and to encourage men and women to impact our community with Christ’s values, ethics and love.
Operating charitable healthcare clinics providing low-income uninsured residents of the metropolitan Richmond area with high quality compassionate healthcare services.
Providing a Christ-centered and accessible choice in education that cultivates the hearts, minds, and bodies of Richmond’s children for God’s glory and the city’s flourishing.
Rise Richmond cultivates the God-given potential of students through learning opportunities that equip them to flourish—centering Black students in Richmond’s East End.
Providing biblical counseling to serve people who have problems and want help, as well as offering training through courses and seminars for biblical counselors.
Serving and supporting Middle Eastern immigrants and providing fellowship, worship, biblical instruction, counseling, pastoral care, and social assistance to Arabic-speaking families in the Richmond area.
Providing effective, permanent solutions to individuals and families dealing with the crisis of homelessness and/or substance use disorder in the metro Richmond area.
Sharing the hope of the Gospel through counseling
The Withrows live in the Mosby community, doing evangelism and discipleship in both Mosby and greater Church Hill.
Pursuing transformation in the lives of individuals, couples, families and congregations, providing therapy using Scriptures combined with sound mental health practices.
Reaching students at Columbia University in New York City with the gospel and equipping them to move out into the world, sharing and embodying the love of Christ.
Engaging the communities of immigrants of the metropolitan Richmond area with the Gospel, bringing them together and making them feel at home in a strange land.
