Join our tutoring team!
Since 2005, this program has served area immigrant and refugee students. Each student is matched with a tutor who meets with her/him weekly to build a relationship with both the student and the family. Volunteers can also choose to serve as Subs and tutor when their schedule permits.
Most of our students are fairly proficient in English, but often their parents are not, so they are very grateful for the one-on-one support in assisting them with their homework. No experience is necessary so please consider serving!
WHEN DOES TUTORING HAPPEN?
Wednesday evenings, 6:45 – 7:45 p.m.
January 15 - March 26, 2025
Third Church, 600 Forest Ave.
WHO DOES THIS PROGRAM SERVE?
We had 125 students during the fall semester from a variety of countries; the majority are Arabic speakers. Many come from our sister church, the Christian Arabic Church. Students are in grades K-11. We will help you find the right match!
Training for tutors
A training session is required for all tutors along with references and for adult tutors, a background check and child protection training. For the spring semester, training will take place on January 8, 2025 in the Fellowship Hall at Third Church.
