Describe your primary responsibilities at Third: I I: pastor and oversee the student and family ministry, working with a great team of staff and volunteers to love, care for, teach, and point children and teenagers to Jesus.
In my role I give direction to Family Ministry, cast vision for the Student Ministry and work to challenge and encourage our students and their families to grow in their relationship with Jesus. I recruit and train volunteers to work with our students so that our teenagers will have mature Christian adults discipling and influencing them for Christ. I teach on Sunday mornings, Sunday nights and Wednesday nights regularly as well as meet with leaders and students on a weekly basis. As an associate pastor I also work with the entire congregation doing weddings and funerals, visitations and helping to lead in worship and occasionally preaching.
What is your favorite book? I’m currently reading "The Rise and Triumph of the Modern Self" by Carl Truemam. I think I’m enjoying it…
What is your favorite thing about Richmond? One of my favorite things about Richmond is that it’s only about 2 hours to the beach and 2 hours to the mountains. It also has great food!
Tell us about your family and hobbies: I have a beautiful wife Caroline and we’ve been married for 13 years, and we have two sons, McCray and William. For fun we enjoy spending time with family and friends in big and small ways, like large family vacations to the beach or simply getting together for a meal or spending time in each other’s homes or around a fire pit.
How do you see God moving at Third? As the pastor to our teenagers one of the ways I’ve seen God moving is in the parents and other adults who are excited to disciple the “next generation” through teaching on Sunday morning and leading small groups on Sunday nights, but in simple one on one meetings outside of the walls of the church. As a result, we’re seeing more students staying connected to Christ through high school and beyond.
