The Communion of Saints
For Meditation
In this time of quarantine and social distancing community is more important than it has ever been before. The challenge is that we’re not able to meet in community in ways we have in the past. For Christians our community helps define who we are and what we do, and as we look at the statement “I believe in the Communion of Saints,” we’ll see just how deep and long lasting our Christian community truly is and how it defines who we are and what we do.
As you look at your longing for community, how do you see your role in it? How can you serve your community as it also serves you? Our belief in the communion of saints gives us answers to these questions and will also shape us to live out our faith within our Christian community in new ways.
Ephesians 4:1–6
1 As a prisoner for the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received. 2 Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. 3 Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. 4 There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called to one hope when you were called; 5 one Lord, one faith, one baptism; 6 one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all.
