Describe your primary responsibilities at Third: I’m called to lead the Third congregation, and along with the other elders to keep us true to the mission of God to restore all things, including our city.
What are your favorite books? The Brother Karamazov (Dostoevsky), Gilead (Robinson), The Gospel in a Pluralist Society (Newbigin), Divided By Faith (Smith and Emerson), In the Name of Jesus (Nouwen). Also Calvin and Hobbes.
What is your favorite thing to do in Richmond? Cycle the roads and trails. Eat great food. Enjoy the river.
Tell us about your family: My wife Sarah and I have four wonderful girls. Sarah is from Nashville, currently working as a public health nurse. I grew up in Chicago (hence my loyalty to the Cubs) and later moved to Chattanooga, TN. Sarah and I met at UVA. We’ve lived in Richmond since 2005.
How do you see God moving at Third? God is doing a great work in Richmond, and Third Church is a part of it. I’m excited about being a part of a dynamic gospel community that is eager to participate in the mission of God.
